The Wandering Slovak

Calgary, Alberta

The Rams closed a trade the morning of this year's HBMHL Entry Draft, sending a 3rd rounder in '09 to the Los Angeles Devils in exchange for young puck moving rearguard Andrej Meszaros.

GM Poelker said, "We're happy to welcome Andrej to the Rams' organization. He's a minutes eater, has good size and can move the puck. His point shot is an added benefit. We'll most likely pair him with Brett Clark in one of the defensive pairings and also utilize him on the power play if no one else can be brought in via the entry draft, trades or free agent signings. However, the fans need to know that the days of fiscal responsibility will continue for the Alberta Rams. We'll look at various moves and signings but we won't be giving away the ranch any longer."

Andrej was drafted by the Portland Winter Hawks in 2006 (2nd Rd #27). He then was traded to the New England Sharks in Dec, '06. Just two months later he packed his bags again when he was traded to Edmonton. Just as he was getting settled in Edmonton the phone rang early one morning and he found out he needed to cancel the house purchase due to being traded to Vancouver. Then just 3 months later in Jan. '08 he was off to the warm climes of Los Angeles in yet another trade. Now 7 months later in Sep. '08 (HB calendar) he has headed back north for his second tour in the great Province of Alberta. That makes it 6 teams in 2 years!!! This time he hopes he has found a home in beautiful Calgary!
