Rounds 2 & 3 Bring Rams Two Centers

(AP) Boston, MA
HBMHL Draft
The 2nd and 3rd round had the Rams holding their collective breath. And for good reason. The players the Rams wanted the most they, of course, didn't get or have a shot at. Not with the overall 30th and 50th picks respectively. However, what they received is hoped to be adequate in the future. Actually, one of the players, that being young center pivot James Sheppard, was a pleasant surprise. Part of Rams' GM Poelker's statement follows, "When all was said and done we weren't surprised that center Ryan Carter was available for our #30 pick. He's a bit older for a rookie and we project him as a solid 3rd liner down the road. As for James Sheppard, we were a bit surprised he was still available at the #50 pick. We're hoping he can eventually fill our 2nd line center position. That is if he can ever get out of the offensive stifling system that Jacques Lemaire employs. Of course, we welcome both to the Alberta Rams organization and congratulate them on being drafted into the HBMHL. We hope their careers bring much success and happiness to them and their respective families."
It appears the Rams management teams have acquired two possibles for the future. That's what a draft is all about. It's a crapshoot at best, unless a club has the #1 overall pick in any draft. And then that can be difficult at times also, in deciding who's the best player to pick.

Until next time this is I.P. Daley signing off...
