Werewolves Extend Unbeaten Streak

London (CP) - The Werewolves of London find themselves at 11-0-1 to start the season, after getting an OT win against the Saskatoon Bears. Coach Don Cherry was happy with the result. "Every game builds more and more pressure, we know we are not going to win them all, and everyone is gunning for us. My hope the players just enjoy the run they are on." The Werewolves of London have inquired the records department of the league what the longest undefeated streak to start a season is, but have yet to hear back with an answer.

GM Mark Wendling has been out scouting the U-17 World Challenge that is currently being played in London Ontario. "I have been to 4 games as of tonight, and have been impressed by a number of kids. It looks like we are going to have more players kids coming in to the league in the next five years. Ray Bourque's son and Uwe Krupp's son both looked very good in an 8-0 win against Team Atlantic. It is a great tournament and I look forward to getting out to about 13 games including the championships."

Wendling also mentioned he is going to suggest at the next owners meeting about starting to sell advertising on their jerseys much like they do in Europe (as seen in the photo of Joni Ortino in the U-17 World Challenge). Wendling stated that with the climbing costs of free agents, owners have to find other ways to make money.
Wendling was asked to comment on Robert Dumont's recent statements. "Mr. Dumont needs to get his facts straight. When we were in Alaska we made the playoffs all 4 years, HBMHL was a success in Alaska, we wanted to build a team from scratch, and in Alaska we were unable to do that. We built a team from Scratch in London and in 5 years we win the Cup. In fact, we have been in the playoffs, not the Dixie cup or the toilet bowl, but the actual big money ones seven of nine years, with the only years being the first two in London. Our teams have won 40 or more games on 7 occasions, has any of his teams ever won 30 with him at the helm?
There are owners in this league whose record speaks for themselves, currently owners Jim Danila who is now in Philadelphia and ourselves are up there. Boston and Suffolk I would also say have been successful, despite not winning a cup. Richard in Alberta is very respected, but Dumont....well he is still wet behind the ears, and when your record can not speak for you, you talk a lot, and he seems to talk a lot. The facts of this season are London and New England have played once, in Hartford, and London won the game, despite Wade Redden out with an injury. Has he even spoken about that result? I did not think so. With now 16 teams in the playoffs instead of 8, Dumont might actually make it to the real playoffs this year, if it was still 8 he probably would choke it away."
