(Hartford,CT) When Rod Brind'Amour signed with the New England Sharks as an unrestricted free agent, he didn't know he would play on the 3rd line. In 3 pre-season games, Brind'Amour is a -1 and has 1 point.
Today, the Sharks sent Brind'Amour and right wing Jason Pominville to the Portland Winterhawks in exchange for Alex Tanguay, Samuel Pahlsson and Jason Williams.
"This deal made sense for both teams, said Sharks GM Robert Dumont, Rod became an expensive 3rd line centerman and he clearly wasn't happy with it and as a result, there were no results. Now we cut payroll by $3 Million and we get a true 3rd line centerman in Pahlsson and a star on the wing in Tanguay".
Tanguay, Pahlsson and Williams will not make it in time for the Sharks' game in New York tomorrow against the Highlanders. They have been told to go to Hartford so they can be ready to go for a home game against the Philadelphia Bulls on Tuesday.
