Checking line tweaked in Toronto...Chris Kelly on board.

Toronto, ON). Toronto continued to move bodies in this rebuilding year, moving one checking center for another. Toronto sent Sami Pahlsson and a 3rd round pick to New England for Chris Kelly and a 4th round pick. The deal may seem confusing at first cut but has benefits for Toronto long term as Kelly's contract has more years left around the same dollar amount.

Wolfpack GM said, " this was a move to get a little younger and also add some offense to the club. Sami is a great checker but lacks much offense, Chris can chip in from 15-20 goals a year and play solid at both ends of the ice, we like this move a lot and project Chris to be centering a 3rd or 4th line for the next 5 plus years. This move is part of our plan to get tougher to play against and adding forwards that can play both ends of the ice. Chris fits that mold to a tee."

With the recent additions of Chris Kelly, Steve Ott, Greg Campbell, and Frans Nielsen Toronto is adding a solid checking game for the future that can also score a goal or two. These deals should pay off next year with less goals against and an offense that can score from any line.
