Six has become five. As reported earlier the Sharks have sent another player back to their previous owner in St Louis. This time it was winger Torrey Mitchell. GM Bobby Brooks said that Mitchell was given an opportunity to stick with the club due to his previous leg injury that kept him out of 2009 action, but the team ultimately decided to go in a different direction. Along with Mitchell the Sharks sent their 2012 3rd round draft pick to the Browns.
In return New England receives Chris Kunitz - a player that will add some necessary grit to a forward group in need of some toughness. He was an appealing player due to his low contract commitment, ability to put the puck in the net, and sound overall game. Today he was seen practicing with Sidney Crosby, but it's unlikely that we'll see the pair together in a game this season. The combination of Brunette, Crosby, and Nash are currently leading HB in scoring and coach Sakic has no plans to mess up a good thing. Kunitz is expected to make a bigger impact next season after he gets more time to learn the system.
