St. Louis Browns set attendance record!!

St. Louis, MO). At the beginning of the new season, hope was ringing through the walls at the Gateway Arch Arena in St. Louis. Many thought a solid team could be built with the current assests. Unfortunately, the team has been dismantled so much that the current payroll tips around $14 million making the case that the league may want a salary floor so that teams are forced to be more competitive. It has gotten so bad that the fans are pretty much gone. The Browns have gone 40 games without a win!...0-38-2...amazing and they still drew a solid 250 fans to the last game. Hey hockey fans love their sport. It is a lot more than the game versus Alberta back in November, that game drew 52 fans...a solid deck of cards! It seems inevitable now, hockey is dead in St. Louis even though many want to save their team.

GM Rob Dumont talks relocation but what makes him think fans will come at the new location with this current roster. Putting all his eggs in one basket for a rookie draft that includes Taylor Hall, Sergei Bobrovsky, and P.K. Subban to name a few is all the Browns have to think about now.

St. Louis has a couple building blocks in place if they are not dealt during the second half. Brad Marchand and Patrick Eaves could form portions of the top three lines next year if they make it that far. After that, it is pretty much roster filler.

It seems the league may need to set a salary floor to prevent the current situation in St. Louis. Setting a salary floor of say $25-$30 million would at least make teams carry signficantly more talent and prevent teams from going with zero wins for the season.
