Boston, MA). In the HBMHL today a noteworthy trade was made between bitter division rivals. GM Rob Dumont of New England dealt top 4 defender Brian Rafalski to the Boston Beanpots for journeyman defender Ladislav Smid and a 3rd round draft choice. The trade looks one sided today in Boston's favor, however Smid is an up and coming stay at home defender with upside. In Raflaski Boston receives an offensive defenseman that can score and distribute the puck with the best. GM Ken Danila said, " hey we think that Rob Dumont is off is rocker a bit with all these deals so early in the year, but if we deem the deal is in Boston's best interest, we will deal with Monte Hall if it gets a piece of the HB Cup!"
It appears that New England may have placed some of the blame for their rough start at the feet of Rafalski, but his line of 1G/1A, -1 in 3GP does not indicate that he was the problem with New England's slow start. Only 3 games have been played in the league thus far, but Dumont continues to dismantle his team. Who's next, Crosby who is being outscored by newcomer Brad Richards, or starting netminder Nicklas Backstrom with his .890 save % thus far. One thing is for sure, it doesn't look like New England has any untouchables at this early point of the season.
Meanwhile, Boston continues to add pieces to a very interesting roster and has received stellar play from starting netminder Ryan Miller in the first two games of the year.
