Newly acquired Martin St. Louis and offense explode for Toronto!

Toronto, ON). The Toronto Wolfpack today pounded perennial powerhouse New York Highlanders 12-6 in an away game for the Wolfpack squad. Rookie Nick Foligno poured in 4 goals and star forward Martin St.Louis contributed 3 points in the win. Both clubs started backup goalies in the tilt, with Raycroft getting the better of Legace in this matchup.

St. Louis was recently acquired via trade with the Suffolk Fox. The full deal included Toronto sending Tuuomo Ruutu and Tom Poti to the Fox for St. Louis, Mark Stuart, and a 3rd round draft pick. St. Louis has fit right in on the top line with Zetterberg and Burrows. The move required Phil Kessel to move to the second line centered by rookie David Krejci. They seem to have a nice chemistry and having Rick Nash at left wing doesn't hurt either. Phil said, " I have no problem with it as long asI get me minutes and can contribute to our success, you always want to add All-Star caliber players to the roster, and Marty is certainly that".

Toronto continues to build an interesting squad with plenty of scoring acumen. It remains to be seen whether the goaltending and defense can sustain a solid front for starting netminder Pekka Rinne, who has been torched in his last two starts for 17 goals. The team may consider adding an additional defenseman or two as the season progresses. Today top defender Brad Stuart tweaked a groin so he is estimated out for a week to 10 days, so more pressure will be on the defense to produce. New Wolfpack defender Mark Stuart is sure to long a lot of ice time while B. Stuart recuperates.
