London (CP) - The winning streak ended at 9 this year. For whatever reason Coach Cherry has his guys ready to play year after year. In today's game against the tough Suffolk Fox which ended in a 5 - 5 tie, Marian Gaborik tweeked his knee a bit, and is going to miss a couple of games. "The MRI did not show anything serious, but we are going to sit down Marian for a couple of games and see if it heals. He has been off to an unbelievable start this season, leading the league in goals and points." stated owner Mark Wendling. "How can you not be pleased especially when we thought this year maybe the time to dismantle the team a bit, but these guys have shown they can and they want to win now, so we will do what we can to support them."
Owner Wendling was asked to comment on fellow owner Rob Dumont's recent comments. "With the way his team is playing, it does not surprise me that he is analyzing them in the can. At least the smell is right. I find it humorous he comments on our finances, when with a salary for a team less than $30,000,000 he manages to still lose money, and has had to ask the league for a line of credit. Recently he popped off stating how a million dollar fine for him would be nothing....and yet he is into his line of credit. Thats what you get when your accountants are Dewey, Cheetum and Howe...."
Wendling went to add "When you have one of the greatest players in the league in Sid the Kid and you set him up to fail as Dumont has, one can only hope the Kid sits out and gets traded to a real team, a real franchise, one that does not use velcro for the names on the back and actually sews them into the jersey because the team has faith in them. I really feel bad for Sid, hopefully he will be able to get out of New England and have a legitimate shot at the Cup some day."
Wendling was asked if he was trying to get Sidney to come play for the Werewolves. "We have never had a discussion with New England about that, and for us to say we would love to have him on our team might be considered to be tampering, so all I will say, is that Sidney is a heck of a talent, and its unfortunately he is playing for that joke of a franchise in New England."
It is apparent that there was no Christmas Cards sent this year between the owners of New England and London. It is definately a classic love - hate relationship. One this is certain, one team is at the top of the standings, and the other, well not so much.
