The Rams in a Tailspin

- Alberta Coliseum -

The recent efforts by the Alberta Rams have been dismal. With the team currently in the throes of a 4 game losing streak and falling further behind Vancouver in the Canada West Division, ownership decided a bit of a shakeup was needed.
When Brent Hodge, the new owner and GM of the St. Louis Browns called, GM Poelker of the Rams was open to suggestions.
Burning the midnight oil on Sunday the 20th, a deal was hammered out shortly after midnight.

Going to St. Louis was recently acquired checking forward and penalty killer Mike Grier for defensive Dman Kyle McLaren.

GM Poelker said " We're taking on another big contract in McLaren but we're hoping he can help keep the crease cleared for Marty Brodeur. Marty's been having a heck of a time lately. We hated to let Grier go after just recently acquiring him to help the penalty killing units, but we feel McLaren can be of more help."

Poelker was heard to say under his breath..."McLaren better work out for that kind of money. Oops...is the mike still on?"

Later in the day Monday, a rumor was floating around about more Browns' being on the trading block.
One was P.J. Axelsson.
By the time GM Poelker had got a call through to GM Brent Hodge, with one call being dropped, Hodge had already moved Axelsson to Division rival Vancouver.
He also made several other moves as reported by Commish Danila.

Man...this guy Hodge pulls the trigger real quick when talking deals!

Poelker said to Hodge..."Why the heck didn't you mention Axelsson was on the block last night!
Sheesh!!"

Hopefully Mr. Hodge wasn't too taken aback by Poelker's tirade, who can be a hothead at times.
