Soshnikov & Mayfield and UFAs

In the 2017 HBMHL Rookie draft the Spurs picked up right winger Nikita Soshnikov with pick 4.10. Soshnikov, who hails from Nizhny Tagil, Russia was signed to a 3A contract and will be seeing ice time in the Hobey this season!
He will suit up and see time on the 4th line with port sider Kyle Clifford and center pivot Derek MacKenzie. He may see some pk time with Mac.


Unrestricted Free Agent Kyle Clifford was signed to a 3C contract at the league minimum and will add more grit to the Spurs' lineup. Another UFA signing was centerman Tomas Plekanec who was signed to a $1.5M 3C contract. He will man the center position on the 3rd line with Winnik on his left and Matt Duchene on his right to start the season.

As for Scott Mayfield, the Spurs' management expect good things from the blueliner in the future. For now he will be assigned an 'R' contract and get some seasoning with the Colorado Eagles of the ECHL, the Spurs' minor league affiliate in Loveland, Colorado. Scott was picked in the Rookie Draft with pick 5.11.
