Toronto add BIG piece for playoff push....

Toronto, ON). Today Toronto made a deal for the present, not the future, dealing two low contract checking forwards in G. Campbell and R. Dvorak for premier C/LW Keith Tkachuk, checker Dan Hinote, and a 4th round draft choice.

This is a low risk move for the Pack as Tkachuk is on the last year of his contract with no financial commitments beyond this year. Tom Welch, GM for the Pack said, " Beanpot GM Ken Danila approached us with an interesting proposal. We had some give and take and agreed on a deal that should benefit both clubs. Boston and Toronto have had similair disappointing years but the financials benefit Boston in this deal. Money was not an issue for us as recent deals have addressed financial concerns. Although we have been adding pieces for the future in our last few transactions, the acquisition of Keith is for our current team, to give them a push to solidify a playoff spot. We still want to compete with our division and conference and this move should help our second PP unit significantly. We are happy to get Hinote back as a reserve checking forward as well.

Campbell and Dvorak are solid contributors that will help the Beanpots now and in the future. Both are projected a high rated checkers in the next few years with Campbell potentially with 20 goal annual upside.

The Pack now seem set heading to the trade deadline although rumors persist of Holmstrom and Wellwood being on the market for Toronto. Welch said," we have no urgency in moving anyone else, but our phone lines are open to the deadline as usual. "
