Toronto, ON). At the trade deadline today, Toronto acquired pest and general nut job Sean Avery from the Boston Beanpots for Jay McClement and a 3rd round draft selection. Avery was acquired quickly after him being dealt from New England to Boston. Toronto had tried to acquire him from New England but Rob Dumont and Thom Welch couldn't agree on the right deal. This deal makes sense for Toronto and provides quality depth for the Pack playoff run as long as Mr. Avery keeps himself under control.
Coach O'Reilly said, " we like Sean as a player, he brings an unpredictable edge to the team and keeps the opposition distracted. Hey I have thrown a few tantrums myself during my career, what's the problem with a few F-bombs and misogynist comments. We have all been there. Let's hope Sean plays on the edge, but under control. I think he will respect the Wolfpack colors, or he will have to deal with me!"
Toronto now has a set team for the playoffs and should be able to do some damage with the new likes of Zherdev, O'Sullivan, Tkachuk, and Avery and the solid play of Rick Nash, Henry Zetterberg, and Nik Kronwall. The team needs solid goaltending going forward and is looking for Evgeni Nabakov to firm his game up for the stretch run. Should be an interesting march to the playoffs in Toronto.
