Wolfpack and Rams hook up on another deal at deadline..new Sutter lands in Ontario!

Toronto, ON). Toronto and Alberta made another trade to improve CANADIAN teams swapping number one picks and young and old contracts at the HB trade deadline. Toronto sent this years SAS 2011#1 draft choice and Andy McDonald to the Rams for ALB 2012 1st round pick, ALB 2014 2nd round pick, and promising center Brandon Sutter. The deal helps both clubs in the short term and also affects each club long term. Andy McDonald has one year left on his deal while Brandon Sutter is on his entry level deal.

GM Thom Welch said, " we have been offering the SAS high #1 pick to several clubs, but ALB stepped up with a great offer of an equivalent #1 pick in a future year and a great prospect in Brandon Sutter, plus a second rounder down the road. Andy will be missed but will help the Rams in this year's playoff run which we are not a part of." Toronto projects Sutter as a checking line center with the potential to play top 6 minutes down the road.

This deal shaves off another nearly $4m in payroll for Toronto leaving them in very good shape going into next year's UFA period. Toronto has little left to deal but will entertain a scorer for the stretch run and to keep the crowds happy in the hockey haven of Toronto.
