Vancouver, B.C.) The Toronto Wolfpack today played a great away game against powerhouse Cup Champion Vancouver Jackals. Niklas Backstrom stopped 49 shots in a 5-2 win. This is after completing a 1-0 shutout over New York in the previous contest.
GM Thom Welch said, "we are pleased with our goaltending and Nik has really stepped up his game of late. We have Annti coming back soon so we can work him into the rotation as well. Our depth is goal is one of our strengths."
New Wolfpack center Daniel Briere enjoyed his first line status getting 2 goals and an assist. Offensive defenseman Ryan Whitney chipped in with 2 goals. It appears the recent trade of offensive center David Krejci may have provided some new chemistry with revised lines and added ice time for Daniel Briere and Matt Lombardi. Ilya Kovalchuk continued his fine play chipping in two assists. Next up for the Wolfpack, a home game versus the London Werewolves.
