Markov jettisoned...more changes for Wolfpack..

Toronto, ON). Toronto made a significant deal with the Boston Beanpots today sending all around defenseman Andrei Markov, checker Craig Adams, and 2011 5th round pick for Bryan McCabe, Frederic Modin, Jay Pandolfo, and 2011 3rd round pick. The deal exchanges five different players with Markov the biggest difference maker. Toronto picks up checker Pandolfo to replace Adams whose stint in Toronto was short lived. The financial aspects of this deal are obvious as Toronto removes around $2 million in salary for the year and removes these salaries from next year's payroll.

GM Thom Welch had this to say," Boston was interested in Markov for some time and we were looking to get some new blood in the lineup. This deal came together fairly quickly and provides us with a nice future draft choice to help with the youth movement. McCabe will be bought out as we don't need that type of game on the Wolfpack as we are trying to tighten up the checking game. I would assume Jay and Frederic can plan on getting some checking minutes going forward. Overall, this deal is towards the future and helps our budget in the short term."
Toronto appears solid in nets for the future with 4 goalies in the system all under the Wolfpack control long term. Weaknesses are apparent down the middle and on defense so it should be an area to watch in the upcoming months as to potential other changes.
