(Calgary, Alberta) The Rams recently completed a deal that brought in Scott 'Gomer' Gomez to anchor the 2nd line for the next couple of seasons. The price was high. The Rams sent their 2010 1st rounder and a cool million in cash to Suffolk for Gomez' services. It's considered that it'll be worth it with him centering Marian Hossa and most likely Alexei Ponikarovsky this season. He could also see time on the 1st line, depending upon how players perform. Pony currently has a tweaked groin so Scottie will be centering Hossa and Walker in the upcoming preseason game at Saskatoon. With bringing in Gomez, Legwand continues to drop on the centreman depth chart from his 1st line position of last season. The ufa signing of Arnott had dropped him to line 2 and now he goes to line 3. It also appears he may man the center pivot position for the P2 penalty killing unit. At presstime, the Rams currently sport a 3-0 record in preseason with the current 1st line leading the club in scoring. Right winger Alexei Kovalev has 6 points (2g, 4a), centre Arnott has 5 points (3g, 2a) and portsider Umberger has 5 points, all assists. All three goalies have started games with Brodeur posting a 1-0 whitewashing in the 1st of visiting Vancouver, Theodore getting the win in the 6-3 victory at Winnipeg and rookie Ersberg backstopping the last game, a 6-2 win versus visiting Quebec City. There's a rumor circulating that Theodore may soon be plying his trade elsewhere.
