Werewolves Lacking Bite Make Trade

London(CP)- The London Werewolves completed a trade today with the Los Angeles Devils. The Werewolves traded defenseman Brian Lee and forward to Jack Skille for Martin Havlat and cash considerations.

"We had to do something" stated owner Mark Wendling. "In five preseason games we have scored a grand total of 6 goals, and our checking centre John Madden has three of them. I am disgusted. The past two games against Toronto and Quebec things have gone from bad to worse with only 1 goal." Wendling was very honest about his team. "We are not expecting to win the Cup this year, but it is about competing and we went out in the off season and got a goalie to help teach Devan in Mary Biron. We added offensive defenseman Brian Campbell after he was released from a huge contract, and defensive defenseman Mike Weaver. We also thought Michael Ryder and Taylor Pyatt should each be worth about 20 goals this season and they have a goal between them. Don't even ask about Carter."

Wendling was asked about his rookie draft this season. "We are very happy about it, but everyone except for Ennis and Zharkov will be sent down for seasoning. Zharkov cant be sent down, otherwise he would be and Ennis we believe is ready for the show. We are hoping for about 20 goals from him as well.

Wendling also commented on some of his off season moves. "Unfortunately we were cash strapped so we had to make some deals we would rather not have made. Essentially we sold Ryan to get some much needed cash, we didnt want to. The trade we made with Jay for Sammy was a hockey deal regardless that there was cash involved. We needed some experience up front and thought Sammy was the guy, but he too is struggling."

Wendling hinted he might not be done making deals. With a coaching staff of Don Cherry, Bobby Orr and Brett Hull, you would think offense and toughness would be the least of the Werewolves problems.
