Coach O'Reilly was mystified by the team play in the post-season. "We had such a strong push heading into the post-season I expected so much more. I am sure changes are coming. GM Thom Welch concurred, " although we made strids this year in some positions and got good performances from many, it was not good enough. We may need to reassess our team system and may go more defensive in a future trapping defensive scheme that many other clubs deploy successfully. We have a bright future and look forward to prospects Staal, Krejci, and Foligno adding to our team next season".
The Toronto Wolfpack will pretty much stay intact over the off season with only Tomas Holmstrom and Keith Tkachuk exiting. These players were 1-year rentals for the team anyway and did not project as long term contributors. The team hopes that incoming Krejci and Foligno can replace some of this lost offense.
Overall a disappointing season for Toronto. However, Toronto is stocked with 5 draft selections in the first three rounds of the upcoming entry draft. I am sure the Toronto management team will work hard to enhance next years roster. GM Welch said, "we are well situated to upgrade our roster through trades and the upcoming draft. We see limited activity in free agency as our roster is pretty much set. We may dabble and tweak some in the UFA market, but do not see that as the answer to our team chemistry and makeup. Rest assured Toronto will leave no stone unturned to improve our team".
