Wolfpack make amends for poor season..complete 1st round upset.

Toronto, ON. Toronto completed the 1st round of the HBMHL playoffs with a 4-2 series win versus rival Montreal. It was very satisfying for the team and coach O'Reilly, "we have played hard all year and have had a significant roster turnover, but our team came together behind the play of Anti, he was our series MVP for sure." Toronto had a disappointing regular season with inconsistent goaltending throughout the year. However, Antero Niitymaki turned in a fine performance in the series carrying a .927 save percentage in the series.

Tom Welch, GM for the Wolfpack had this to say about the series. " We have come together as a team in the post season. Our roster has solidified around the acquisitions of Martin St. Louis and Scott Hannan. We need continued outstanding performances from them and Anti to compete against league powerhouse London Werewolves. We feel we can be very competitive in the series even though we went winless during the year versus London."

Team captain Rick Nash was excited about the 1st round upset. "Our team gelled at the right time and Anti has performed admirably. We look forward to the challenge of London." Former Wolfpack winger Ryan Smyth is sure to give Toronto fits on the PP, but London will have to deal with the feisty ex-werewolf Scott Hartnell who is due off of injury for Game 2. All in all looks to be a very interesting series. Stay tuned.
