Back in Black

The Portland Platoon of the HBMHL announced today that they will be debuting an all black version of their uniform in their next home game against the Philadelphia Bulls. Since the change of name to the Platoon (from the Winter Hawks), Portland have worn their Winter Camos at home and Desert Camos on the road.

"We want to commemorate the fact that for the first time in years, the franchise is not losing money.  We celebrate all sorts of worthy causes during the season, recognizing this-that-and-the-other-thing for all sorts of reasons. But this is a business after all, so we can't think of a better thing to celebrate than being 'Back in Black.' And for one night only, we will be changing our opening theme music to AC/DC's classic."

"We want to thank our fans for their undying support of the franchise as we try to turn things around. When we were conscripted into the Canada West Division, our task became much harder as we play in the Leagues most competitive Division. By continuing to come through the turnstiles our fans provide us with the financial support needed to be competitive. We thank them for that and for their patience as we try to build a winner."

"I also want to thank Brian Elliott and Bo Horvat for coming here today to model the new unis.  The black face thing has been frowned on as being 'politically incorrect', but we're going with it to help complete the look. The black numbers on a black background isn't ideal but we hope to confuse the other guys a bit. Our fans know who is who.  The broadcasters might have a bit of a challenge, but until the Commish starts to share TV revenue with the teams, that's not my problem."
