Toronto, ON) The Terry O'Reilly era is finally over officially as Barry Pedersen was introduced as the team's new head coach. Wendell Clark was retained as Assistant Coach and fan favorite Mats Sundin was added as the other assistant. This completes the Wolfpack staff as they enter the new season. Barry Pedersen brings offensive expertise and teaching skill from his time playing and coaching in the NHL and minors. He will expect a huge improvement on last year's debacle in Toronto. Clark maintains a solid relationship with the players and specializes in short handed situations. Mats Sundin was brought in to help the anemic powerplay and work in the community. His long tenure in Toronto will be a welcome site to the Wolfpack fans.
Pedersen said," I want to see a strong work ethic as all coaches do, but we will not run a trapping scheme. I want to see our offensive talent come out in all our players."
Clark added," Last year was rough, we need to set our team on a new path and Barry can do that with his thorough knowledge of the game. I expect improvement across the board."
Sundin is excited, and is looking for new leadership to emerge on the 2011-2012 Toronto Wolfpack. Sundin said," With Kessel, Myers, and Nielsen we have some good players that can make a major difference night in and night out. We look to add great talent in the draft and GM Welch said there is potential to add signficant skill in free agency. We are very excited."
Looks like an interesting season ahead for the Wolfpack.
